Abdulakh Mikitaev will introduce Congress’ delegates to the main tendencies of science and production development of synthetic polymers

General stages of development of science and polymers production starting from the 40-th of 19th century, are analyzed in the report. The chemical cure of natural rubber was applied for synthetic rubber production in the first half of 19thcentury for the first time ever. Phenolic rubber called “Bakelit” and “Karbolit” were the first grades produced completely by the synthetic method on the basis of Mr.Baielend and Mr.Petrov development works.

The basic methods of polymerization and polycondensation were worked out in the 20th-40th of 20th century; the conceptualization about macromolecular polymer structure was established as well at that time.

According to the info from the report, polymer production boom had been referring to the period of 1950th. The outrun polymer production growth in comparison with the other traditional materials was observed within the period from 1960th till 1980th. The Academicians Mr. Semenov and Mr.Korshak have named 20th century as a “century of synthetic polymeric materials”. Global synthetic polymer production had left behind steel production in terms of volumes by 1980th. Along the entire length of 20th century and in this day and age of a progress, electrotechnics, cable production, automotive and aircraft construction, electronics engineering, packaging, household appliance development have been the major generators of the variety and volumes polymer production growth.

Development and production of the composite and nano-materials have been primarily making progress in the past decades. Russian Federation has the great recourses in outrunning synthetic polymers volume and assortment expansion in comparison with the other countries. From this point of view, Russia has a very good and illustrative example of rapid polymer production growth in China.
